Following a request from the Public Ministry of Ceará (MPCE), through the Prosecutor's Office of Uruoca, the Judiciary ordered the preventive detention of a man investigated for attempted aggravated homicide against a resident of Martinópolis. The suspect, accused of hitting the victim with stone blows to the head, was arrested on Monday (September 21st). The crime occurred on September 16th.
According to the investigation, the victim was able to reach her own residence and ask for help from her family after the attack. In the hospital, she reported to the police that she had been attacked by the suspect. The man suffered a skull fracture and needed to be transferred in a serious condition to the Santa Casa de Misericórdia de Sobral, with a risk of death.
In the request for preventive detention, the MPCE highlighted the existence of previous records of threats involving the case, including police reports against the suspect. For the Public Ministry, the elements gathered by the investigation indicate that the victim's death did not occur due to the rapid medical care provided after the attack.
When ordering the detention, the Judiciary considered the severity of the crime, the risk of further attacks against the victim, and information that the investigated person was taking measures to make it difficult for authorities to locate him.
