Three former leaders of the "Hong Kong Alliance" were sentenced for inciting subversion, according to a court in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region on Friday.
The alliance's former chairman Lee Cheuk-yan was handed with a jail sentence of seven years, former vice-chairperson Ho Chun-yan received a sentence of five years and two months imprisonment, and former vice-chairperson Chow Hang-tung was jailed for seven years and three months.
The group was also fined for HK$1.5 million (about $191,259), to be paid within three months.
On August 21, Hong Kong's High Court convicted the now-dismantled political alliance and its former leaders of inciting feelings of dislike and hatred toward the Communist Party of China and the central government among members of the public, and encouraging the public to subvert state power.
