From a Moche headdress to Chancay Port: 55 years of China and Peru

A golden Moche headdress – one of Peru's most important national treasures. In 1988, a tomb in northern Peru was looted, and the artifact disappeared. Nearly 20 years later, it finally made its way home. After its return, it was rarely put on public display in Peru. Today its part of the "Maize, Gold and Jaguar" exhibition at Beijing’s Capital Museum, thousands of kilometers from where it was made. As China and Peru mark 55 years of diplomatic ties, behind the exchange of treasures lies something larger: an enduring friendship, and a partnership built on shared prosperity.
