The jury acquitted the arguments presented by the Public Prosecutor's Office of Ceará and sentenced Marcílio Alves Feitosa, known as "Tranca," to 58 years and 8 months in prison for ordering the murder of his former partner and former mother-in-law in Fortaleza. Identified as one of the leaders of a criminal organization of Paulista origin in Ceará, "Tranca" was convicted of aggravated double homicide (base motive and means that prevented the victim's defense). The Public Prosecutor's Office was represented in the trial by prosecutors from the Group of Support for the Jury (Gajuri) and with activity in the 1st Jury Court of the capital.
The double homicide occurred in the early hours of February 19, 2013, in the Quintino Cunha neighborhood, in Fortaleza, at the order of "Tranca," who did not accept the end of the relationship. She and her mother, who was killed for trying to prevent the execution of her daughter, had their house door broken down by men hired by Marcílio. He remains imprisoned in a maximum-security penitentiary, where he is already serving a sentence for other crimes.
The defendant was one of the targets of Operation "Messengers of Crime," launched by the Public Prosecutor's Office of Ceará, through the Group of Special Action to Combat Criminal Organizations (Gaeco), in June of this year. The action aimed to dismantle a structured communication network that used lawyers to mediate contact and transmit orders from the leaders of imprisoned criminal organizations to members of criminal organizations, both within and outside the state of Ceará.
