Participants in the National Residency (Enare) and Medical Education Evaluation (Enamed) 2026 exams can now consult the Confirmation Card, which provides the location of the exam and other instructions. For Enare, candidates should access the exam page. For Enamed, the action should be done through the system of the Anísio Teixeira National Institute of Educational Studies and Research (Inep). Both exams will be held on September 13, in all states and the Federal District.
Since the previous edition, the Enare, coordinated by HU Brasil, is now integrated into the Enamed, organized by Inep in partnership with the state-owned company. For candidates who use the results of the Medical Education Assessment Exam in the Enare selection process for direct access medical residency programs, the exam score will be used in the selection, according to the rules of the National Residency Exam.
In the 2026/2027 edition, Enare offers 8,287 positions in medical residency and 5,926 positions in multiprofessional and professional health residency, totaling 14,213 opportunities in 309 institutions across the country.
Regarding the tests
The exams will begin at 13:30 and end at 18:30. Candidates must bring a valid identification document; a confirmation card; and a black ballpoint pen made of transparent material (black for Enamed, blue or black for Enare).
The exam for residency programs with specific requirements, additional year, and area of practice will consist of 80 multiple-choice questions, with five options each, and will last for five hours. For multiprofessional and single-profession residency programs, the exam will consist of 100 multiple-choice questions, with 20 related to general competencies and 80 related to the specific competencies of health professions. The duration will also be five hours.
For professional health residency programs, 15 professions are included: Biology, Biomedicine, Physical Education, Nursing, Pharmacy, Medical Physics, Physical Therapy, Speech Therapy, Veterinary Medicine, Nutrition, Dentistry, Psychology, Public Health, Social Work, and Occupational Therapy.
In all Enare modalities, to avoid elimination, candidates must achieve at least 50% correct answers.
Integration with Enamed
Since the previous edition, the Enare is integrated into the National Medical Education Assessment Exam (Enamed). For direct access residency programs, the Enamed result is used in the Enare selection process, according to the rules established in the call for applications.
The Enamed is mandatory for eligible students in Medicine courses, according to the criteria defined by Inep. Graduates can also participate if they are interested in using the results in the Enare selection process for direct access medical residency programs.
Regarding the Enare
The National Residency Exam is a unified selection process coordinated by HU Brasil, with the support of the Getulio Vargas Foundation (FGV), for admission to medical residency and multiprofessional and healthcare professional residency programs. The process aims to democratize access to residency positions and optimize the use of available opportunities in institutions across the country.
