Ukrainian forces strike Russian Orion drone control station in Crimea

The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported this on Facebook, according to Ukrinform.

In particular, at the Saki airfield in temporarily occupied Crimea, Ukrainian forces struck a ground control station for Orion unmanned aerial vehicles.

The Orion (Inokhodets) is a long-endurance reconnaissance-strike unmanned aerial system in the MALE class. It can remain airborne for up to 24 hours and conduct electro-optical reconnaissance and target designation at altitudes of up to 7.5 kilometers. The Orion can carry guided missiles and aerial bombs with a combined weight of up to 200–250 kilograms.

“Striking the ground control station significantly limits the invaders’ ability to use these systems in the relevant operational area,” the General Staff said.

Other targets struck included a site for storing, preparing and launching enemy attack drones in the area of temporarily occupied Donetsk.

In the Luhansk region, Ukrainian forces confirmed strikes on an enemy ammunition depot near Dovzhansk and a military logistics depot near Kypuche.

As reported by Ukrinform, on September 16 and overnight into September 17, the Ukrainian Defense Forces struck S-400 launchers in Russia’s Bryansk region, as well as a drone launch site and Russian military support facilities in temporarily occupied territories.
