The Judicial Police, through the Northern Directorate, identified, located, and detained a 21-year-old man, the presumed author of three attempted qualified homicide crimes that occurred outside a nightclub in Santa Maria da Feira on the morning of last June 28th.
The man is also indicted for the crimes of violent damage, possession of a prohibited weapon, and falsification or counterfeiting of documents.
The incidents took place after the suspect was escorted outside the nightclub for displaying an aggressive and disruptive behavior towards customers and security personnel.
Once outside the establishment, the suspect approached the car he was driving and retrieved a pistol-type firearm of 7.65mm caliber, which he pointed at the employees of the commercial space, firing multiple times from a distance of between 20 and 40 meters, while threatening them with death.
With this conduct, and because several customers were present, the suspect ended up hitting a 17-year-old young woman, causing her abdominal injuries.
In addition to the injuries inflicted on the young woman and the damage caused to the establishment, the suspect's actions, given the sound of the shots hitting the windows, the entrance door, and the building's facade, caused a sense of panic among the dozens of customers still present at that time.
After the incident, the suspect fled the scene, remaining in an unknown location until very recently.
The investigations carried out as part of the inquiry allowed the collection of relevant probative elements that led to the identification of the suspect and, consequently, his location and detention yesterday in the city of Porto.
In the course of the ongoing investigations, it was possible to gather significant probative elements that corroborate existing indications and allow the attribution of additional crimes to the target, both against property and against physical integrity.
The detained individual, with a criminal record for crimes against property, against physical integrity, and drug trafficking, and with two suspended prison sentences for identical crimes, will be presented to the competent judicial authority for judicial interrogation and the application of coercive measures.
