The Judicial Police, through the Lisbon and Tagus Valley Directorate, detained in Lisbon on September 7th, a 32-year-old foreign national, strongly suspected of committing sexual abuse crimes against children, with a nine-year-old boy as the victim, particularly vulnerable.
The crimes are believed to have been committed over the course of a year, in a neighborhood context, with the suspect being a close friend of the family, considered trustworthy, and thus having easy access to the child.
The boy eventually reported the incidents to his father, after which he was referred for clinical care in psychology and pediatrics specialties, leading the psychologist to directly report the case to the Judicial Police.
Investigative efforts revealed strong indications that the defendant committed at least five aggravated sexual abuse crimes against children.
Present at the first judicial interrogation at Loures Court, the defendant was subjected to the coercive measure of preventive detention.
The child and the family were referred for victim support follow-up.
The citizen is in an irregular situation in the country, where he has been living for two years.
