The Commission on Social Security, Assistance, Childhood, Adolescence and Family of the Chamber of Deputies approved a bill that creates the "Auxílio Mãe Atípica" (AMA), in the amount of R$ 600, for mothers or legal guardians of children and adolescents with severe disability, including Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), who require continuous care.
To receive the benefit, the person must prove that their care routine affects their professional activity and be registered in the Unified Cadastro Único for Government Social Programs (CadÚnico). There is no need for the beneficiary to have formal employment.
The text also stipulates that the child or adolescent's disability must be evaluated by a multidisciplinary and interdisciplinary team, as provided for in the Law of Persons with Disabilities (Law 13.146/15).
The approved text is the version of the rapporteur, Deputy Bruno Ganem (Pode-SP), forBill 1520/25by Deputy Carla Dickson (PL-RN).
The original bill provided different values according to the degree of disability and the family's economic situation. The rapporteur removed this gradation and established a fixed value of R$ 600, with an additional R$ 150 for each additional dependent.
"This is a well-established parameter within income transfer policies, which facilitates the proper calibration of the benefit," the deputy stated.
In addition to the financial aid, the text guarantees the beneficiary priority access to psychological consultations through the Unified Health System (SUS) and access to therapeutic, leisure, and well-being activities.

The project is being processed inconclusive mannerIt will also be reviewed by the Finance and Taxation Committee, the Constitution and Justice Committee, and the Citizenship Committee. To become law, it must be approved by both the Chamber of Deputies and the Senate.
