WIESBADEN – In July 2026, theaccommodation businessesin Germany recorded 58.4 million overnight stays by domestic and foreign guests. According to preliminary results from the Federal Statistical Office (Destatis), this was 3.2% more than in July 2025.
Increase in overnight stays by guests from domestic and foreign countries
The number of overnight stays by domestic guests increased by 3.2% from July 2025 to July 2026, reaching 47.7 million. The number of overnight stays by foreign guests also increased by 3.2% to 10.8 million.
January to July 2026: New record for this period
In the period from January to July 2026, accommodation businesses recorded a total of 282.1 million overnight stays. This was 0.9% higher than the previous year and 0.4% higher than the previous record of 281.1 million overnight stays for this period in the pre-Corona year of 2019. The number of overnight stays by domestic guests increased by 0.8% compared to the previous year, reaching 235.0 million. The number of overnight stays by foreign guests increased by 1.0% to 47.1 million.
Methodical Notes:
All data refers to accommodation establishments (hotels, guesthouses and pensions, holiday accommodations and similar accommodation facilities, campsites and other tourism-related accommodations) with at least ten sleeping places or ten parking spaces on campsites.
