Representatives from the Public Ministry of Ceará (MPCE) participated, on Wednesday (September 16th) and Thursday (September 17th), in meetings with the Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF) and the International Federation of Football (FIFA), in agendas aimed at strengthening security in stadiums and preparing for the 2027 Women's World Cup, which will be held in Brazil. The meetings are part of the National Group for the Prevention and Combat of Violence in Stadiums (GNCOVE) to promote coordination with institutions linked to sport and develop strategies to combat violence in major sporting events.
GNCOVE meets with CBF Anti-Violence Commission
On Wednesday (September 16th), the GNCOVE delegation was at the CBF headquarters in Rio de Janeiro, where they were received by the president of the entity, Samir Xaud. The meeting promoted a rapprochement between the Group and the Brazilian Anti-Violence Commission in Football (CAV-FB), chaired by Mauro Carmélio Neto, and aimed to initiate the construction of a permanent dialogue agenda.
Participating in the meeting were the president of GNCOVE, Procurador-Geral de Justiça do Ceará (Public Prosecutor General of Ceará), Herbert Santos; the executive secretary of the group, Déric Funck; the coordinator of the Núcleo de Desporto e Defesa do Torcedor (Nudetor) of the MPCE, Public Prosecutor Wander Timbó; and the coordinator of the Grupo de Atuação Especial de Segurança Pública (Gaesp) of the MPCE, Public Prosecutor Renato Magalhães. Representatives from CBF also participated, including the director of Futsal and Beach Soccer, Mauro Carmélio Junior, and the director of Integrity, Eduardo Gussem.
During the meeting, actions related to stadium security and the prevention of violence in football were discussed, as well as initiatives aimed at the 2027 Women's World Cup. On that occasion, Herbert Santos handed over to the president of CBF an executive summary of the report on the observation of security protocols for major sporting events, prepared from the visit of representatives of GNCOVE to the United States, during the World Cup held in the country in 2026.
Meeting with FIFA addresses security in the Women's World Cup
On Thursday (September 17th), the MPCE delegation participated in a meeting with FIFA representatives from the management, legal, and compliance areas, as well as members of the Federation's security team. The meeting focused specifically on the security of the 2027 Women's World Cup, with a focus on preparations for the tournament to be held in Brazil.
The meeting allowed for the sharing of experiences and dialogue on security protocols and strategies for major sporting events, considering the characteristics and scale of the competition. On the occasion, the executive summary of the report, prepared by GNCOVE, was also delivered to the FIFA representative.
The integrated action between public bodies, sporting organizations, and other institutions involved in organizing the tournament was highlighted as an important element for preparing the host cities and promoting a safe environment for athletes, fans, professionals, and other participants.
