Professional Master's in Mathematics in the National Network

PROFMAT is a postgraduate programstricto sensuaimed at improving the training of mathematics teachers who work in basic education, contributing to the strengthening of the teaching of the discipline in Brazilian schools. UFJF is part of the national network of the program, which has more than 100 locations throughout the country. At the university, the course is offered with face-to-face classes on Fridays, morning and afternoon.

Requirements: to be a Mathematics teacher in Basic Education. Priority is given to teachers from public schools, while teachers from private schools can occupy remaining positions if not filled by candidates from public schools. Other requirements should be consulted in the selection process's call for proposals.

National Professional Master's Degree in Physics Teaching

National Professional Master's Degree in Physics Teaching11 vacancies, distributed between open competition and affirmative action (9 vacancies for open competition and 2 vacancies for affirmative action)

The National Professional Master's Degree in Physics Teaching is organized by the Brazilian Society of Physics (SBF), offered at poles of different higher education institutions in the country. UFJF is part of Pole 24 together with the Federal Institute of Southeastern Minas Gerais (IF Sudeste MG)

Requirements: to be a teacher in active service in Basic Education, preferably from the public sector, and to possess the required training as specified in the call. For Group 2, it is necessary to have at least 15 years of experience in the classroom and a degree in Physics, Chemistry or Mathematics, or a bachelor's degree in Exact Sciences and/or Technological areas with pedagogical complementation.

Stages: the selection process is divided into two groups. In Group 1, intended for open competition, a national written exam and a memorial defense are carried out.

In Group 2, exclusively for teachers with at least 15 years of experience in the classroom and specific training, the first stage is the curriculum analysis, followed by the memorial defense.

Master's Degree in Collective Health

Selection process for the Master's Degree in Collective Health – Class of 2027– 31 vacancies, distributed between open competition and affirmative action. (15 for affirmative action and 16 for open competition)

Requirements: Completion of a degree from a recognized course by the Ministry of Education (MEC), or, in the case of foreign candidates, by a competent authority in their country of origin. Those who are still completing their degree are also eligible, provided they can demonstrate that they are able to complete the course before enrolling in postgraduate studies.

Stages: written exam of specific knowledge, English proficiency exam, analysis of cover letter and research project, and interview.

Doctorate in Public Health

Selection process for the Doctoral Program in Collective Health – Class of 2027– 20 vacancies, distributed between open competition and affirmative action (10 for affirmative action and 10 for open competition)

Requirements: to possess a Master's degree recognized by the Ministry of Education (MEC) and to prove authorship of at least one published or accepted article for publication, according to the criteria established in the call.

Stages: foreign language proficiency tests, analysis of the cover letter and research project proposal, and interview with defense of the research project.

Research lines: Socio-spatial dynamics (15 vacancies); Socio-environmental dynamics (13 vacancies)

Requirements: hold a degree in Geography (Bachelor's or Licentiate), Architecture and Urban Planning, Sanitary and Environmental Engineering, Social Work, Tourism, or related fields, enrolled in a recognized and accredited higher education institution by the Ministry of Education (MEC).

Stages: evaluation of the dissertation proposal, written exam, interview and curricular evaluation. The evaluation of the proposal and the written exam are eliminatory; the interview is also eliminatory and the curricular evaluation is classificatory.

Academic Doctorate in Geography

Requirements: to possess a master's degree in Geography, Architecture and Urbanism, Sanitary and Environmental Engineering, Social Work, Tourism or related areas, accredited and recognized by the Ministry of Education.

Stages: evaluation of the thesis project, defense and curricular evaluation. The evaluation of the thesis project is eliminatory; the defense is eliminatory and classificatory; and the curricular evaluation is classificatory.

Selection process for the Master's in Letters: Literary Studies – admission in 2027
– 36 vacancies, distributed between open competition and affirmative action (18 for affirmative action and 18 for open competition)

Research lines: Literature, Criticism and Culture; Literature and Transdisciplinarity; and Literary Creation.

Requirements: having completed a bachelor's degree in a course recognized by the Ministry of Education (MEC) or, in the case of foreign candidates, by a competent body in the country of origin. Those who are still completing their bachelor's degree may also participate, provided they can prove their ability to complete the course before enrolling in postgraduate studies.

Stages: eliminatory evaluation of the dissertation proposal, written exam of specific knowledge and in-person interview. The evaluation of the proposal occurs in the first stage and requires a minimum score of 70 points out of 100.

Doctorate in Letters: Literary Studies

Requirements: to have a recognized bachelor's degree by the Ministry of Education (MEC) and a master's degree obtained in a course recommended by the Coordination for the Improvement of Higher Level Personnel (Capes), both in Letters or related areas, at the discretion of the Program Committee. Candidates who are in the final stage of their master's degree may also participate, provided that they can prove their eligibility to complete it before enrolling in the doctoral program.

Stages: elimination of the thesis project, analysis of the Lattes curriculum and remote interview. The evaluation of the thesis project takes place in the first stage and requires a minimum score of 70 out of 100.
