The Executive Director of Communication and Digital Media at the Chamber of Deputies, Cláudio Araújo, highlighted that the main challenge for institutions in the three branches of government and at different levels is to communicate with citizens in a simple, effective, and transparent manner. The statement was made on Wednesday morning (16th), in an interview with the Painel Eletrônico program on Rádio Câmara, shortly before the official opening of the 4th Brazilian Public Communication Congress.
The event, which takes place at the Chamber of Deputies until next Friday (18th), is part of the celebrations of the 200th anniversary of the Brazilian Legislature and marks the 10th anniversary of the Brazilian Association of Public Communication (ABCPública). With more than 1,800 registered participants from all over the country, the event takes place in both in-person and remote formats.
During the interview, Araújo acknowledged the difficulty of translating issues that are often complex for the public. He cited the example of the communication of the federal legislature, whose continuous objective is to make information about the entire process of lawmaking clear to society, expanding rights and building citizenship.
We are talking about the Chamber of Deputies, the people's house. And we need to communicate well with the people, who need to interact with the Chamber of Deputies." said the director. "This is a challenge, and I think bringing these experiences from various places will be very important for our daily work.
Internal Communication
Another point addressed by Araujo was the importance of dialoging with the employees themselves, as communicating well with society also involves communicating with those who work in the institutions and provide services to citizens. The topic is one of the highlights of the congress.
"We, here in the Chamber of Deputies, are going through a period of restructuring of our internal communication, and it will be very interesting to see the experiences from various places," he emphasized.
The Congress
With the central theme "An agenda for citizenship," the 4th Public Communication Congress features an intensive program over three days. The activities include lectures, roundtables, mini-courses, experience reports, research presentations, publication launches, and awards, with more than 160 selected works.
Although registration for in-person participation is now full, interested parties can still register to attend the event online until the end of this Wednesday (16th) via the link:cd.leg.br/compublica.
