High school and technical course students will have the opportunity to get a close look at the courses, projects, and facilities of the Faculty of Engineering at the Federal University of Juiz de Fora (UFJF). On Saturday, October 12, the unit will hold another edition of "Engineering Open Doors," from 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM, in the Itamar Franco Building. The program is free and open to the entire community.
Promoted by the Faculty of Electrical Engineering's Tutorial Program (PET Elétrica), in partnership with other PETs and GETs from the Faculty of Engineering, the initiative was created to bring young people closer to the university environment and to expand their knowledge of the different areas of engineering.
During the afternoon, visitors will be free to circulate through the Faculty's facilities and learn about projects developed by students and professors. The program includes research projects, junior companies, competition teams, and extension groups, as well as practical demonstrations and visits to laboratories.
More than just getting to know the physical structure of the University, participants will be able to talk directly to those who experience the undergraduate program. Professors and students will be at stands to present the courses and answer questions about the curriculum, university routine, the job market, professional opportunities, and admission to UFJF.
The aim is for direct contact with the academic community to help students better understand what lies behind each area of engineering and to identify which training possibilities best suit their interests.
For the organizers, the experience also contributes to dispelling the idea that engineering is limited to a few areas of activity. By getting to know projects, equipment, experiments, and different academic paths, visitors can realize the diversity of fields in which professionals in the area are involved.
Participation is free and does not require prior registration. Registration will be carried out directly at the entrance of the Itamar Franco Building. Schools interested can also organize caravans and bring their classes to participate in the program.
