Zelensky announces EUR 1B in deals at Carpathian Eight Summit

Investment and trade agreements worth €1 billion will be signed today during the economic part of the Carpathian Eight Summit.

President Volodymyr Zelensky made the announcement during his address at the inaugural Carpathian Eight Summit, according to Ukrinform.

“Today, during the second, economic part of the Carpathian Initiative, there will be significant financial and investment agreements. Around 550 business representatives will take part. Investment and trade agreements worth €1 billion have been prepared. This is a good start,” Zelensky said.

He added that the Summit would feature nearly 100 business projects from all eight Carpathian countries. “The total value of these projects is almost €40 billion. These are projects that can genuinely benefit our countries,” the President said.

He noted that in the coming years, economic growth in the Carpathian macroregion could be twice as fast as the European Union average.

As reported by Ukrinform, President Volodymyr Zelensky today announced the launch of the new Carpathian Eight (C8) initiative, comprising Ukraine, Romania, Poland, Slovakia, Hungary, the Czech Republic, Austria and Serbia.
