Security Council Hears Call for Merit-Based Appointments as Syria Seeks Shift from Relief Aid to Reconstruction, Growth

While hailing the Syrian Government’s progress in institutional, integration and military sector reforms, and the return of millions of refugees and displaced, briefers warned the Security Council today that dire economic conditions and security and humanitarian challenges remain a threat to the country’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.
