IFRS wins medals at the IFs Games of the Southern Region.

Students from the Federal Institute of Education, Science, and Technology of Rio Grande do Sul (IFRS) won 15 medals at the Southern Region Federal Institutes Games (JIFSUL) 2026. IFRS secured three golds, five silvers, and seven bronzes in competitions that gathered athletes from the six IFs located in the states of Rio Grande do Sul, Santa Catarina, and Paraná.

JIFSUL was held from September 15 to 18 in sports facilities in the municipalities of São Leopoldo and Novo Hamburgo, Rio Grande do Sul. Besides the sporting competitions, the event provided moments of convivence and integration among students and staff from the participating institutions.

The IFRS delegation consisted of 130 students, who participated in athletics, basketball, futsal, handball, volleyball, beach volleyball, table tennis, and chess. They were accompanied by 15 staff members.

Medals in various disciplines

Among the achievements by IFRS are podiums in athletics, futsal, basketball, volleyball, chess, and handball. The accomplishments were achieved by students and teams from differentcampusesrepresenting the Institute in individual and team competitions.

Other stages

The qualification for the regional stage took place based on the results of the IFRS 2026 Games (read more about the IFRS 2026 Games). The best-placed athletes had the opportunity to represent the institution at JIFSUL.

Now, the top-placed athletes at JIFSUL have secured qualification for the national stage of the Federal Institutes Games (JIFs), scheduled to take place from October 18 to 23 in Goiânia (GO).
