A severe hailstorm hit Rio Grande do Sul on Saturday night (26), affecting 6,347 people and damaging 1,314 homes. According to a report from the state Civil Defense released on Sunday (27), Santiago, in the central region, and Alegrete, on the western border, were the most affected municipalities. The information comes from G1.
In Santiago, where about 4,000 people and 1,000 houses were affected, residents reported ice stones that reached sizes similar to the palm of a hand. In some areas, the accumulation of hail left the ground covered in white.
Alegrete counted about 2,000 affected people and 300 damaged homes. The Federal Farroupilha Institute suspended classes indefinitely after registering significant damage to thecampus.
There were no deaths or injuries. Twenty people had to temporarily leave their homes, but there are no displaced, missing, or deceased individuals under investigation.

Forecast
The instability should continue. For this Sunday (27), the Civil Defense warns of the possibility of large-scale hail and winds above 90 km/h in different regions of the state. Temperatures may reach 35°C in the North and Northwest, while the extreme south may record a minimum of 12°C.
Until Monday (28), the accumulated rainfall may exceed 200 mm in the Campaign and West, with volumes exceeding 170 mm in 24 hours.
