Tesla CEO Elon Musk shared his latest views on the Chinese market, artificial intelligence and humanoid robots in an exclusive interview with China Media Group (CMG).
Speaking about the future of humanoid robots, Musk said he envisioned a world in which individuals could have their own personal robots to care for elderly parents, look after children, provide one-on-one tutoring and perform a wide range of other tasks.
In the future, a person could control hundreds or even thousands of physical robots and digital agents, Musk said.
He predicted that the number of humanoid robots could reach at least 1 billion within 10 years or less, potentially rise to 10 billion within 15 years and reach 100 billion within 20 years.
In recent years, China has made advances in humanoid robot technology, drawing growing attention worldwide. Musk has repeatedly shared images and videos of Chinese humanoid robots on social media.
During the interview, Musk also spoke highly of China as a travel destination.
Asked about his previous recommendations on social media encouraging people to visit China, Musk said that words alone could not fully convey the country's appeal.
"China is amazing," he said, adding that there are too many things worth seeing in China to cover in a simple description.
Musk again encouraged people to visit China whenever possible, saying, "If time permits, definitely go to China and have a look."
"If you have limited time, at least visit Shanghai and Beijing," he added.
