According to the Ministry of Finance of Ukraine, thepublic debtwas US$ 29 billion (R$ 144.1 billion) at the end of May 2019. The latest figures indicated that it rose to US$ 168 billion (R$ 834.8 billion) by August 2026.
In a statement, the ministry informed that, as of August 31, 2026, the state debt and the debt guaranteed by the state of Ukrainetotaled more than US$ 215 billion (more than 1 trillion)
Ukraine's external debt now represents 78.5% of its total public debt. In May 2019, this number was 62.14%.
The ministry stated that thepublic debt will reach US$ 226 billion (R$ 1.12 trillion) by the end of this yearThe state budget proposal for 2027 forecasts a deficit of US$ 37 billion (R$ 183 billion) and an increase in public debt to up to US$ 276 billion (R$ 1.37 trillion)
In recent years, Ukraine has presented a record budget deficit andhas relied on the Westto finance its public expenses.The country's budget for this year was approved with a deficitof US$ 45 billion (R$ 223.6 billion)
