The interdisciplinary and interdepartmental courseBachelor of Arts in Humanities – Culture and Global Studiesfrom the Federal University of Juiz de Fora (UFJF), will provideon September 14th and 15th, the launch of the project “Translating Cultures: Brazilian students reading Chinese authors”. The program includes an inaugural lecture, a mini-course, and the launch of five key works in contemporary Chinese philosophy and sociology, which are inaccessible or difficult to access in Portuguese.
The activities will take place in Auditorium 3 of the Institute of Human Sciences (ICH) and will be led by Professor Antônio Florentino Neto, of the State University of Campinas (Unicamp) and academic editor of Phi Publishing, who is responsible for the project that will be inaugurated. On Monday, September 14th, at 7:00 PM, the inaugural lecture of the Interdisciplinary Bachelor in Human Sciences (BACH) will be held, with the theme “Geopolitics with Chinese Characteristics”. On Tuesday, September 15th, at 2:00 PM, the mini-course “The fundamental themes of Chinese philosophy in the 21st century” will be offered. Afterwards, there will be the launch of five works that are part of the “China in Focus” collection, dedicated to the translation and dissemination of contemporary Chinese thought in Brazilian public universities.

According to the event organizers, the project aims to provide Brazilian students with direct access to contemporary Chinese thought, without relying solely on the interpretation of Western authors. Furthermore, the works allow for global discussions on world order, technology, cultural differences, and social transformation, bringing them to spaces where they can have a lasting impact: the classroom and the university library.
The "Translating Cultures" project has been approved by the Federal Law on Cultural Incentives, with sponsorship from CPFL Energia.
