Vladimir Putin congratulated Yury Norshteyn, an artist, animation director, People’s Artist of Russia and USSR State Prize winner, on his 85th birthday.
The message reads, in part:

They are held in sincere and enduring affection by audiences of every generation and stand as an example of professionalism for the young talents who are carrying forward the finest traditions of Russian animation.”

Yury Norshteyn is a Soviet and Russian animated film director, winner of numerous Russian and international prizes and awards. He achieved worldwide renown for such animated films as Hedgehog in the Fog, The Heron and the Crane, and Tale of Tales.
