Much of the city of Athens is protected up to 26 feet by levees. In Nelsonville, the baseball field adjacent to Lake Hope Drive floods. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 1:15 AM EDT Tuesday the stage was 19.8 feet. - Bankfull stage is 16.0 feet. - Forecast...The river is expected to rise to a crest of 20.2 feet early this morning.
