Forecasters at NOAA’s National Weather Service (NWS) are monitoring a powerful nor’easter bringing damaging wind gusts and dangerous coastal flooding to the Northeast this weekend. The New York City metro area and New Jersey may be especially impacted by this storm.
A rapidly deepening storm along the East Coast will likely produce very gusty winds, heavy rain and coastal flooding along the I-95 corridor from the Mid-Atlantic through New England on Saturday and Sunday.
The strongest wind gusts and widespread coastal flooding are most likely near the waterfront and shorelines of New Jersey, New York City and Long Island. The worst flooding is expected with the daytime high tide cycles Saturday and Sunday. Flooding will also extend inland from the waterfront along tidal rivers and bays.
