Vladimir Putin: Friends,
I extend my heartfelt greetings on this holiday, Teacher’s Day, to all the teachers and educators of our country, and everyone who devotes their strength, energy, and knowledge to educating and guiding the younger generation.
Being a teacher is far more than a profession. It is a noble calling, one that carries great responsibility; it demands wisdom, patience, and constant caring about children and students, together with the ability to unlock unique talents and best qualities in every child and young person.
Your genuine care, experience, and sensitivity help students to believe in themselves, and I am confident that your advice, guidance, and support continue to serve as a foundation for them in their adult lives.
It is vital that young people, schoolchildren and university students alike, feel themselves part of one great, united country, wherever they may live. They must learn from an early age to respect the diversity of cultures and distinctive traditions of our multi-ethnic nation, and to understand the strength and significance of the values that have united us for centuries.
This work of educators must be ongoing, especially now, during the Year of the Unity of the Peoples of Russia. Throughout history, it is our shared values and a common vision of the future that have helped us chart our own path and confidently move forward. We take pride in the legacy created by previous generations and in the achievements of our contemporaries, and we recognise that the foundation of every success, victory, and accomplishment lies in the work of teachers – in everything instilled during childhood, adolescence, and one’s school and university years.
I would note that, as of this year, the special status of the educator has been enshrined at state level. This reflects the high public regard for the teacher’s mission and guarantees both the necessary support and new opportunities for professional growth and development.
Professional skills competitions also play a major role. They not only help to support and recognise outstanding, talented educators but also, crucially, facilitate the sharing of innovative, highly effective, and cutting-edge practices, thereby raising the overall quality of education.
We will certainly continue to upgrade schools, colleges, and universities – and the entire educational infrastructure – making them more comfortable environments for both students and teachers. At the same time, it is vital to preserve and build upon the best traditions of our national pedagogical heritage, ensuring both continuity and a harmonious blend with the most modern teaching methods.
Yet, regardless of any new technologies introduced in schools, I am certain that the most important element will remain unchanged: the teacher as a personality, and our respect and gratitude for your dedicated, tireless daily work. It is you who teach students to think, who help to shape their character, and who inspire them to do good deeds.
Once again, happy holiday! I wish you and your loved ones health and well-being.
Happy Teacher’s Day!
