Vladimir Putin sent greetings to participants, organisers and guests of the 10th National Conference (with international participation) Theology in Scientific and Educational Space: Results of the Decade and Development Prospects.
The message reads, in part:
“Over the years, thanks to fruitful cooperation among the academic community, government authorities and religious organisations, theology as a significant humanities discipline has undergone important stages of development. Today, specialised educational programmes are offered at many educational institutions and fulfil an important role in shaping worldviews and educating students. Naturally, in the Year of Unity of the Peoples of Russia, I would particularly highlight the unique role of theology in preserving traditional spiritual and moral values, as well as the ethnic, cultural and linguistic diversity of our country.
I am confident that this year’s conference will be held at a high level of creativity and scholarship, contribute to improving the teaching of theology, and strengthen its role in the system of social sciences and humanities.”
