Adviser to the President Yelena Yampolskaya chaired a regular meeting, held via videoconference, of the Expert Commission on Teaching the Russian Language and Literature devoted to the final stages of work on high school textbooks.

In her opening remarks, Presidential Adviser and Chair of the Council for State Policy on Promoting the Russian Language and Languages of the Peoples of the Russian Federation Yelena Yampolskaya announced that state textbooks on Russian language and literature for Grades 10 and 11 have been developed and undergone the required review.

The academic supervisors of the author teams who worked on the textbooks spoke at the meeting. It was noted that the textbooks had been developed in accordance with Russian teaching traditions, taking into account the interrelationship between education, enlightenment, and upbringing. Particular attention was paid to aspects that contribute to the development of schoolchildren’s personalities, broaden their cultural horizons, foster patriotic feelings, and cultivate an appreciation of the Russian language and Russian literature. It was also noted that electronic versions of the textbooks, as well as a unified digital resource for teaching Russian language and literature, are being developed to support teachers, parents, and students.

The phased introduction of state textbooks on Russian language and literature for grades 10 and 11 is scheduled to begin on September 1, 2027.

The expert commission comprising 89 language teachers (one representing each region of the country) is operating under the Presidential Council for State Policy on Promoting the Russian Language and Languages of the Peoples of the Russian Federation.
