Space is fundamental to our economy, national security and daily lives. It enables critical services, strengthens our defence, powers innovation and connects people and businesses across the United Kingdom. As the space domain becomes more contested and competitive, where activities and capabilities are continuously subject to threats and hazards, the UK must act with greater focus and ambition to protect its interests and capture the opportunities ahead.
Our vision is for the UK to be a competitive space power; assertive in protecting our interests and driving our growth.
To achieve this, the UK Space Strategy sets out a new approach to investments, operations, and partnerships. We will focus our resources where they can have the greatest impact, strengthening the capabilities that matter most for national security, defence and economic growth. With that ambition, we are prioritising the acceleration of four subsectors, where we will focus effort and resource to build capability faster, at greater scale:
-
Satellite Communications
-
Space Domain Awareness
-
In-Orbit Servicing, Assembly and Manufacturing
-
Access to Space
Through this Strategy, we will build a stronger, more competitive and more resilient space sector; enhance the UK’s security and sovereign capabilities and ensure that space continues to support growth and prosperity across the whole country.
