Integration between university and society

With a scientific, formative and extensionist character, the Symposium aims to bring the University closer to health services, public management, social movements and the community, promoting a space for reflection and dialogue on contemporary challenges related to the health of populations.

The discussions will be guided by the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of the United Nations (UN). The SDGs 3 (Health and Well-being), 4 (Quality Education), and 10 (Reducing Inequalities) will be highlighted: Reflection and dialogue on equitable access to health and living conditions; Stimulation of critical, scientific, and social education for students, professionals, and the community; and Discussion on social asymmetries and inequalities that impact different populations.

The following will be debated: social determinants of health, social inequalities, historical injustices, and the impacts of climate change on health. The program will also give special attention to the protagonism and knowledge of historically vulnerable populations, including indigenous peoples, the black population, migrants, and people experiencing homelessness.

The initiative seeks to strengthen the role of the university as a space for the production and sharing of knowledge, valuing different knowledge and experiences in the construction of strategies to address health inequalities.
