Russia reports drone attacks as oil refinery burns in Yaroslavl

According to Ukrinform, the ASTRA Telegram channel stated this in a post.

Yaroslavl Region Governor Mikhail Yevrayev announced a "drone threat" in the region "to ensure security." Russian authorities typically use this wording when reporting drone attacks on industrial areas, including the area where the Yaroslavl Oil Refinery is located, the Russian BBC service notes.

As a result, traffic toward Moscow was blocked and public transport routes were changed.

Yevrayev did not report any casualties or provide details about the attack in Yaroslavl. However, photos of the aftermath have appeared on social media, showing shattered windows in buildings.

The ASTRA Telegram channel reported a fire at the Slavneft–YANOS oil refinery.

In addition to the Yaroslavl region, drones reportedly attacked the Moscow region and Moscow. Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin said that two UAVs had been shot down, while black smoke was seen rising over Pavlovsky Posad.

"Two UAVs heading toward Moscow were destroyed by the Defense Ministry's air defense system. Emergency service specialists are working at the site where the debris fell," Sobyanin said.

A red alert level was declared in Vladimir and Ivanovo regions and in the southeastern part of Moscow region.

Residents of Engels in Saratov region also reported explosions and a large number of drones over the city throughout the night. The Engels-2 military air base is located in Engels.

As Ukrinform reported, on the night of August 28, Russian forces attacked Nova Post warehouse facilities in the Bilohorodka community and a production facility in Sviatopetrivske, Kyiv region.
