I am delighted to welcome you – this time to Vladivostok. This is our second meeting this year. I am happy to see you. Our personal relationship reflects the genuinely strategic nature of Russia-Indonesia ties. Thank you for finding an opportunity to come to Vladivostok as the main guest at the Eastern Economic Forum.
Indonesia is one of Russia’s key partners in Southeast Asia, with which we maintained friendly relations for many years. We are developing mutual trade, which is growing; it increased by over 12 percent last year. We have a joint commission working in this sphere. Our focus is on agriculture, shipbuilding, information technology and energy, including nuclear power. We have signed a free trade agreement between the Eurasian Economic Union and Indonesia.
Jakarta is our reliable and old friend within ASEAN. We are working together at all international platforms, including the UN. I am confident that our meetings today will be useful and will give a fresh impetus to our cooperation and the further development of our relations.

First of all, allow me to congratulate you on Russia Day marked on June 12, and the success of the ASEAN-Russia Summit, which marks the 35th anniversary [of dialogue relations]. I am sorry that I could not personally attend that significant event because I could not leave my country at that time. I am making up for my absence by coming to Vladivostok today.
I would like to once again express my gratitude to you. Indonesia and Russia have very deep and important historical relations that go back more than 50 years. Russia is an important partner for Indonesia. That is why we are proud and happy that our relations reached the level of strategic partnership last year.
As I said, we are happy to be able to attend the 11th Eastern Economic Forum. It offers a big opportunity for strengthening cooperation in our region. We are Pacific nations, and our maritime cooperation and connectivity are extremely important.
We are making every effort to develop cooperation across all spheres in our common interests. Our relations are expanding rapidly, including in the sphere of trade and economic cooperation, and we are ready to further foster our relations.
