Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha has said that "some delegations" postponed their visits to Ukraine, but did not specify which delegations he was referring to.

Sybiha made the statement at a joint press conference with Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade of North Macedonia Timco Mucunski in Kyiv on Friday, according to an Ukrinform correspondent.

Sybiha said he was particularly pleased to welcome his Macedonian friend and colleague to Kyiv.

"Thank you for this truly courageous visit and expression of solidarity amid Russia's escalation. And it is also true and a fact that some delegations have postponed their visits to Ukraine, while our friend Timco is with us today. I greatly appreciate that," the minister said.

Sybiha declined to directly answer journalists' questions about whether this included a postponed visit by U.S. President Donald Trump's representatives, Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner, and whether Russia's attack on Kyiv's Zhuliany Airport today could have been an attempt to disrupt the visit.

"Instead of peace, Putin has chosen escalation. Failing to achieve his goals on the battlefield, he has resorted to state terrorism, to missile terrorism. We see and feel this in Kyiv and across Ukraine every day," he said.

According to Sybiha, one of the aims of the Russian attacks is to influence public sentiment and attempt to destroy Ukraine's energy system ahead of winter.

"On the other hand, this is also a slap in the face to global peace efforts and an attempt to derail this process. Therefore, this context cannot be dismissed. It is true," Sybiha said.

At the same time, he stressed that Ukraine expects a new dynamic in its engagement with the United States on peace efforts.

"And we expect, I repeat, a new dynamic with our American partners in the peace efforts. We are currently engaged in an active dialogue with them, and I hope this dynamic will be achieved in the short term," the minister said.

The Kyiv Independent reported, citing its own sources, that U.S. presidential envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner had planned to visit Moscow and Kyiv on September 5-6. However, they are now discussing alternative plans for their visit to Kyiv, scheduled for the coming days, due to Russian intimidation.

The day before, President Volodymyr Zelensky said the Ukrainian side expected to meet with the U.S. presidential envoys in the coming days.

Ukrainian MP Oleksii Honcharenko said that Russian forces struck aircraft at Kyiv's Zhuliany Airport with a drone on September 4. According to his preliminary information, two old Yak-40 aircraft were hit.
