Following a complaint by the Ministério Público do Rio Grande do Sul (MPRS), a father and his wife will go on trial in the Tribunal do Júri on charges of aggravated quadruple femicide and two quadruple aggravated homicides. The couple is accused of the deaths of a 18-year-old woman, her daughter (a 2-month-old baby), and a 16-year-old teenager, the young woman's friend. The court formally indicted the defendants on Wednesday, September 2nd.
DNA test confirmed that the religious man was the biological father of the baby. According to Prosecutor Rodrigo Mendonça, the man and his wife committed the crimes to conceal paternity and prevent the extramarital affair from damaging the couple's image as a respected figure in the religious community.
Furthermore, the teenager was murdered to ensure the concealment and impunity of the crimes of femicide and sexual assault through fraud. The accused believed that the teenager knew that the man had used his status as a religious leader to deceive the young woman, claiming that the sexual relations were maintained in a religious context.
According to the MPRS complaint, the defendants lured the victims to a secluded area in the city under the pretext of participating in a religious ceremony. The young woman and the teenager were killed with knife stabs. The young woman's son was killed as a result of a traumatic brain injury. After the crimes, the bodies were hidden in a wooded area on the banks of the Rio dos Sinos. The crimes took place in July 2025, in Esteio, a metropolitan area of Porto Alegre.
The couple will be charged with aggravated quadruple murder, two quadruple homicide, concealment of a body, corruption of minors, and other related crimes. The man will also be charged with sexual assault by fraud.
Both are in pre-trial detention. The date of the trial by the jury will still be determined.
