In Nizhny Novgorod, Vladimir Putin visited the Volga Arena multifunctional sports complex. The president briefly spoke with young ice hockey players from the Torpedo and Yunost children’s teams and signed an ice hockey stick, jersey, and poster for them.
The new ice arena will serve as the home venue for the ice hockey club Torpedo Nizhny Novgorod. The facility received its commissioning certificate in August 2026. The complex of the total area of almost 96,000 square metres, includes a main arena with 12,000 capacity, and two training rinks, each accommodating 250 people. One of the training rinks can also host sledge hockey competitions.
The new sports complex will become part of the city’s cultural and sports cluster. The main arena is equipped with modern lighting and sound systems, allowing it to also host concerts and other large-scale public events.
