Vladimir Putin visited the Zvezda shipyard in Bolshoy Kamen, Primorye Territory.
A major industrial cluster is taking shape around the shipyard: Sapfir azimuth thruster plant is already operational, and construction has begun on the Primorye Steelworks, which will produce large-format steel sheets and other metallurgical products.
During his visit, Vladimir Putin inspected LNG carrier Pyotr Stolypin. The President boarded the tanker’s deck office, where he was given a tour.
The Pyotr Stolypin is an Arc7-class icebreaker designed for year-round operation along the Northern Sea Route. The vessel is one of five Arc7 icebreaking tankers, marking the first LNG carriers built in Russia for the Arctic LNG 2 project.
At the Sapphire plant, the President inspected the production of rudder propellers, a key component of a vessel’s propulsion system that defines its speed and maneuverability.
