Lápis de Seda, a catarinan inclusive dance company formed by dancers with and without disabilities, arrives in Santa Maria with the show "Desapego" and a dance workshop for people with disabilities. With a duration of approximately 1 hour and free admission, the performance takes place on Thursday (3), at 19:00, at the Caixa Preta Theater of the Federal University of Santa Maria (UFSM) – supporting the event. On Friday (4), from 14:00 to 15:00, the workshop "Dance Practice for People with Disabilities" is scheduled at the Mercedes Baptista Hall, in building 40C, of the Center for Arts and Letters. Both activities are free and offer sign language interpretation.
Composed of professional dancers, the cast breaks away from conventional molds and delivers a high-level technical performance. "Desapego" translates dance into a common behavior in society: the search for acceptance in social norms. However, the show proposes the urgency of breaking away from this desire for adaptation to the rules.
Fluid clothing, frames, and a walker gradually occupy the stage, as a symbol of those who regain their own body, while the soundtrack recovers trajectories of pain and lightness in everyday life.
"Dance is a constant research territory, in which technique serves to express the soul. In "Desapego", the work developed from the movement baggage that each dancer brought to our laboratories. We do not seek to fit in, but rather the power of the authentic gesture – an invitation for the audience to also detach from preconceived notions and connect with art in its purest and most professional form," explains artistic director and choreographer Ana Luiza Ciscato.
The circulation of the show in Santa Maria is part of the project "Lápis de Seda: Maintenance and Dissemination of Inclusive Dance", carried out with funding from the National Arts Fund (Funarte), an entity linked to the Ministry of Culture of the Federal Government.
