The musician Gilberto Monteiro, one of the most important names in Gaucho music, will present the show “Ameríndia Brasil” on October 13th at 7:30 PM at the UFSM Convention Center in Santa Maria. Organized by Sesc and the Coordination of Culture and Art of the Pro-Reitoria de Extensão (PRE) of UFSM, the show brings together Monteiro, pianist Gustavo “Garoto” Kraemer, and the Sucinta Orchestra, a female string quartet from Porto Alegre, in a presentation that revisits the regional and border sound from new arrangements.
Known for classics such as “Milonga para as Missões” and “Pra ti, Guria”, Gilberto Monteiro brings the traditional button accordion, an instrument that accompanies his dedicated career to music and popular culture, to the stage. Alongside violinists Clarissa Ferreira and Bibiana Turchiello, violist Gabi Vilanova, and cellist Luyra Dutra, the musician
presents consecrated works and new themes, revealing different possibilities for his musical production.
With direction and arrangements by Gustavo “Garoto” Kraemer and guitarist Guilherme Castilhos, the show establishes a dialogue between the tradition of Gaucho music and contemporary elements. The proposal results in a sound that departs from the references of the South and expands its possibilities, bringing regionalism closer to a universal musical language.
“Ameríndia Brasil” has already played on stages such as the Choro Jazz Cariri Festival in Ceará, the Sesc Music International Festival in Pelotas, and the Sonoridades CHC Festival in Porto Alegre. In Santa Maria, the presentation marks the group's first show after the release of the album “Ameríndia Brasil”, recorded by Monteiro and the orchestra with the support of
