On September 9, at 6:30 PM, the Central Cinema-Theater inaugurates the program of presentations for the artistic and cultural competition, Palco Central 2026, with the performance “Dudu Lima 40 years”. In this edition, the competition's call for proposals included 21 proposals from various artistic languages, which will be presented free of charge on the theater's stage until December.

Created with the aim of democratizing access to culture and occupying one of the most important symbolic spaces in Juiz de Fora, Palco Central brings the public closer to the artists by inverting the traditional theater dynamic: the audience sits directly on the stage, next to the musicians and artists, creating an intimate, immersive, and emotionally rich atmosphere. The initiative reinforces the cultural policy of the Federal University of Juiz de Fora (UFJF) — the institution to which the Central Cinema-Theater belongs —, reaffirming the university's commitment to promoting and disseminating art. More than a cultural showcase, the project aims to value artistic production, stimulate audience formation, and promote the continuous use of this historical heritage of the city.

Recognized for his work as a double bassist, composer, and arranger, the Minas Gerais musician Dudu Lima takes the stage accompanied by drummer Leandro Scio and multi-instrumentalist Caetano Brasil, who participates with saxophone and clarinet. The performance celebrates the 40th anniversary of the artist's career and explores different moments of his trajectory, combining original compositions with new interpretations of consecrated works of Brazilian and international music.

The show explores the different sonic possibilities of the double bass, including electric, upright, and contrabaixo instruments. The repertoire includes references that accompany the musician's journey and are also present in his discography, which consists of 22 albums released throughout his career.

More than celebrating four decades of artistic activity, the presentation represents an opportunity to disseminate and share the history and living memory of one of the leading names in instrumental music produced in Juiz de Fora.
