This Military Aviation Authority Centre of Air Safety Training course prepares military personnel for flying supervisory roles.

Details

Course overview

This course is aimed at supervising officers and personnel supervising flying activity. Applications from senior engineering and air traffic control officers are also appropriate. Please note this course contains discussion and images of recent aircraft accidents and incidents.

Under RA 1440, If you are applying to attend this course you will need to provide evidence of completion of the flying authorisers course (FLAC), or provide exemption approved by your duty holder as per RA 1440 para 4(a). In addition, if you have not attended the FLAC you will need to apply for a waiver against RA 2305 para 1(b) using MAA 03, Annex B prior to applying for the course.

Please forward evidence of duty holder exemption to dsa-maa-oa-acc@mod.gov.uk as well as the dsa-maacourses@mod.gov.uk when you apply.

On successful completion of the course the following joint personnel administration (JPA) competence will be recorded for Service personnel:

  • Flight safety I Flying supervisors course joint
  • Flight safety I Human factors continuation training
  • Flight safety I Flying authorisers course joint (if already completed flying authorisers’ course previously.)

Location

Centre of Air Safety Training (CoAST ), Defence Academy, Shrivenham.

Course validity

This course is valid for 5 years from the date of completion and is recorded for military attendees as a JPA competency. Regulations on air safety training can be found in RA 1440: air safety training.
