US doctor George Hatem was the first foreigner to gain both membership of the Communist Party of China (CPC) and Chinese citizenship. He offered medical services to frontline CPC forces and witnessed convergence of the Red Army during the Long March.
Recalling his father's dedication to the Red Army, Zhou Youma said his father was willing to work with a military force led by outstanding leaders to help people live a better life.
