Lavender season paints Huocheng purple in Xinjiang

June marks peak lavender season in Huocheng County, northwest China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, where around 800 hectares of lavender are now in full bloom. Visitors flock to the endless purple fields, drawn by the fragrant blossoms set against blue skies and distant mountains. With long hours of sunshine, cool nights and sandy soil, Huocheng offers ideal growing conditions and has become one of China’s leading lavender-producing regions.
