Vladimir Putin sent a message of greetings to Head of the Republic of Altai Andrei Turchak and the residents of the republic on two significant dates – the 35th anniversary of the establishment of the republic and the 270th anniversary of the Altai people’s voluntary accession to Russia.

The message reads, in part:

“These events have become important milestones in the history of the republic and the lives of its people, and have helped preserve the rich cultural and spiritual traditions of their homeland.

It is gratifying that you deeply respect your heritage and the distinctive traditions of your ancestors, trying to contribute to the region’s development. Conditions are being created to attract large investments into the republic, major projects are being implemented in the economy and agriculture, transport infrastructure is being modernised, the pace of housing construction is growing, and modern jobs are being created. Of course, priority attention is being given to the tourism sector because Altai is rightfully famous for its unique nature, ample opportunities for recreation, health resorts, and interesting educational and sightseeing tours.

I am confident that you will continue to diligently fulfil the tasks set for the region for the benefit of the republic and the whole of Russia.”
