Initial Minor Flood Warning for the Bulloo River

Issued at 1:32 pm AEST on Saturday 4 July 2026

Flood Warning Number: 1

MINOR FLOODING POSSIBLE AT THARGOMINDAH FROM SUNDAY MORNING

Recent moderate rainfall across the Bulloo River catchment has resulted in river level rises along the Bulloo River at Quilpie and Autumnvale. As these floodwaters move downstream, minor flooding is possible at Thargomindah from Sunday morning.

The Bulloo River at Thargomindah is currently at 3.72 m and rising, below the minor flood level. The Bulloo River at Thargomindah may reach around the minor flood level (4.00 m) from Sunday morning. Further rises are possible as upstream flows arrive.

Safety Advice:

  • Don't drive, walk, swim or play in floodwater because it is dangerous.
  • Stay away from flooded drains, rivers, streams and waterways.
  • Obey road closure signs. Plan ahead so you don't drive on flooded roads.
  • Check the ABC and local media for updates. The situation can change quickly, so stay informed.
