A system will bring a series of fronts across the panhandle
beginning Sunday night and lasting through the day Monday, with
heaviest precipitation across the far southern panhandle. Heaviest
rainfall is expected from Monday afternoon through Monday night
associated with the second front as it pushes into the southern
panhandle. Rain rates up to 0.10 to 0.15 inch per hour are possible
as this heavier band moves through. At this time, the highest
confidence for seeing these higher rain rates is for Annette Island
and Ketchikan.
Confidence continues to increase on Monday 24 hour rainfall totals
between 2.00 and 3.00 for Annette Island and Ketchikan, and between
1.00 and 2.00 inches for Prince of Wales Island. Localized areas may
see either higher or lower amounts due to the terrain influence.
Winds are expected to increase into Monday morning following the
first front, with gusts up to 40 mph possible during the day.
Additional information will be provided as confidence increases on
event timing and precipitation totals as it gets closer to Sunday
night.
