A baijia bei, or "hundred-patch quilt," is a traditional Chinese textile made by stitching together pieces of fabric. Each patch carries memories of everyday life, and together they symbolize love, family and the passing of blessings from one generation to the next.

Inspired by this enduring tradition, children's author Tang Chizi tells the story of four generations of women in Mother's Patchwork Quilt. Woven with memories of her mother's quilt, the rivers and tea blossoms of her hometown, the novel explores family, resilience and the quiet strength passed down through generations.

Tang hopes the book will not only heal young readers but also remind adults that even life's broken pieces, like the scraps in a patchwork quilt, can come together to create something whole and beautiful.
