SMWLIX The National Weather Service in New Orleans has issued a * Special Marine Warning for... Lake Borgne... Lake Maurepas... Lake Pontchartrain... * Until 445 PM CDT. * At 237 PM CDT, a severe thunderstorm capable of producing waterspouts was located 7 nm northwest of Madisonville, or 10 nm northeast of Manchac, moving southeast at 15 knots. HAZARD...Waterspouts, wind gusts to 40 knots, and small hail. SOURCE...Radar. IMPACT...Waterspouts can quickly form and capsize boats...damage vessels and oil rigs...and create suddenly higher waves. Small craft could be damaged in briefly higher winds and suddenly higher waves. * Locations impacted include... Madisonville, Manchac, Lake Pontchartrain/Lake Maurepas, Orleans Marina, Rigolets, Lake Maurepas, Mandeville, The Mid Point Of The Causeway Bridge, Eden Isle, Kenner, and Lacombe.
