* WHAT...Flash flooding caused by excessive rainfall is possible. * WHERE...Portions of northeast North Carolina, including the following areas, Bertie, Camden, Chowan, Eastern Currituck, Gates, Hertford, Northampton, Pasquotank, Perquimans and Western Currituck and Virginia, including the following areas, Amelia, Brunswick, Charles City, Chesapeake, Cumberland, Dinwiddie, Eastern Chesterfield (Including Col. Heights), Eastern Hanover, Eastern Henrico, Eastern King William, Eastern King and Queen, Eastern Louisa, Fluvanna, Gloucester, Goochland, Greensville, Hampton/Poquoson, Isle of Wight, James City, Lunenburg, Mathews, Mecklenburg, Middlesex, New Kent, Newport News, Norfolk, Nottoway, Portsmouth, Powhatan, Prince Edward, Prince George (including Hopewell and Petersburg), Southampton, Suffolk, Surry, Sussex, Virginia Beach, Western Chesterfield, Western Hanover, Western Henrico (Including the City of Richmond), Western King William, Western Louisa and York. * WHEN...From this afternoon through this evening. * IMPACTS...Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - Scattered to numerous showers and thunderstorms are expected to develop by the late afternoon and evening today. A very moist airmass and slow storm motions will support a risk for heavy rainfall and flash flooding. particularly in urban, poor drainage, and other flood prone locations.
