SMWLIX The National Weather Service in New Orleans has issued a * Special Marine Warning for... Coastal Waters from Stake Island LA to Southwest Pass of the Mississippi River from 20 to 60 nm... Coastal waters from Port Fourchon Louisiana to Lower Atchafalaya River LA from 20 to 60 NM... Coastal waters from Southwest Pass of the Mississippi River to Port Fourchon Louisiana from 20 to 60 NM... Coastal waters from the Southwest Pass of the Mississippi River to Port Fourchon Louisiana out 20 NM... * Until 1245 PM CDT. * At 1044 AM CDT, a cluster of severe thunderstorms capable of producing waterspouts was located along a line extending from 7 nm east of Ship Shoal 295 to 24 nm southeast of Louisiana Offshore Oil Port, moving east at 10 knots. HAZARD...Waterspouts and wind gusts 34 knots or greater. SOURCE...Radar. IMPACT...Waterspouts can quickly form and capsize boats...damage vessels and oil rigs...and create suddenly higher waves. Small craft could be damaged in briefly higher winds and suddenly higher waves. * The cluster of severe thunderstorms will remain over mainly open waters.
