
According to Ukrinform, the Mykolaiv Regional Prosecutor’s Office reported this on Facebook.
“A pre-trial investigation has been launched into the commission of war crimes resulting in the death of people (Part 2 of Article 438 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine),” the statement reads.
According to the investigation, on the morning of July 17, 2026, Russian forces carried out an attack using Shahed-238-type combat drones against the port infrastructure of Mykolaiv.
As a result of the attack, three civilian vessels flying foreign flags, moored on the territory of the city’s port facilities, were damaged.
Two Ukrainian citizens who were on board a foreign vessel were killed as a result of one of the strikes.
Prosecutors, together with investigators and other law enforcement officials, are documenting the consequences of yet another war crime committed by the aggressor state.
