"I have never considered myself stupid, and I never thought I had difficulties, but I believed that my learning and understanding process was different." These were the words of singer and composer Roberta Campos, who shared her ADHD (Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder) diagnosis in an interview with the 'Conversa Bem Viver' program on Radio Brasil de Fato.

The composer, who recently released her album"Coisas de Viver a Dois" (Things to Live Together), revealed that knowing her ADHD condition made her look at herself with more love. "I told my psychologist, who referred me to a psychiatrist who diagnosed me with ADHD. And that changed my life. I started observing myself with more love and realized that sometimes what I had was a difficulty, and it wasn't anything bad, or even the fact that I would fall asleep while watching a movie."

Roberta Campos, known as a 'Hitmaker', also spoke about her latest work, the"Coisas de Viver a Dois" (Things to Live Together)album, featuring diverse collaborations, from prominent MPB artists like Elba Ramalho and Zeca Baleiro to newer Brazilian music artists like Catto and Tuyo.

"For this album, I invited people I have a connection with, people I play music with, and we already had friendships. I always like to collaborate with people I have a good rapport with. And that's how this album came about," Roberta comments.

She describes this work as more introspective, dealing with topics like trauma, resilience, healing, and self-love. Roberta also states that she has never conformed to the music industry to develop her work. "The way the market is, I might not have even made the album and just released singles. But I still maintain that desire because I have a story to tell," the artist asserts.

Despite a stronger presence in the music market last year, the Women in Music Report, published by the Central Office for Collection and Distribution (Ecad) in 2026, reveals that among the 100 highest-earning authors in 2025, only 2% were women. Which represents a decline from previous years, recording 5% in 2024 and 6% in 2023.

Roberta highlights that it's still a very challenging scenario for women, even when dealing with those who work in the music universe. "Sometimes going to set up the sound and in many situations, when asking for the sound technician or the venue's lighting person, it was like pleading 'for God's sake' for the guy to assist you there and do the things you're asking. And it's funny that after I play, sometimes I hadn't associated it with music, but it changes the way you're treated," the artist reports.

For Roberta, the path to combat this situation of machismo is for women to unite. "I think it's up to women to change this, to start making a real difference, because we're not as united as men are," she points out.
